It is well and truly a candidate driven market, there is no doubt about this. Candidates have the pick of jobs and we will continue to educate about the need to move quickly with interviews and hiring.
We also need to educate on the need for clients to be respectful to candidates. Long gone are the days where we should be grateful for a candidate “thinking” about working for our business. They are interviewing us just as much as we are interviewing them.
Be Honest
It may sound crazy, but don’t sugar coat anything. Don’t oversell your job, otherwise when they are in the reality of it, it might not match their expectations. Which leads to..
Managing Expectations
Ensure the candidate knows what is expected of them and knows of anything that may arise within the role.
Make an Educated Decision.
By all means go with your instinct, our gut feeling tells a lot. However, don’t let this get in the way of whether the candidate can actually do the job.
Let Them Meet the Team
This is so important for a new candidate, make sure everyone feels the same and that the candidate has a chance to see who they will be working with.
Know What Motivates Them
Again, so important, I think this speaks for itself.
Be Decisive
If you like someone, hire them!! We can’t keep them warm for too long, the market is moving too quickly
