Onboarding Checklist for New Hires

Ensuring a Smooth Transition & Successful Integration

Pre-Start Preparation (Before the first day)

  •   Offer letter sent and signed contract received
  •   New hire details collected (bank details, emergency contacts, etc.)
  •   IT setup completed (email, system logins, software access)
  •   Workstation prepared (desk, chair, equipment, stationery)
  •   Welcome email with first-day instructions sent
  •   Employee handbook, company policies, and any pre-reads shared
  •   Assign a buddy or mentor

First Day

  •   Warm welcome and office tour
  •   Meet key team members & introductions
  •   Overview of company culture, values, and mission
  •   Review job role, expectations, and key responsibilities
  •   IT login test (email, internal systems, shared drives)
  •   Provide access to necessary tools and software
  •   Discuss communication channels (Slack, Teams, internal portals)
  •   Health & safety briefing (fire exits, first aiders, etc.)   Lunch with manager/team (if possible)

First Week

  •  Initial training on processes and systems
  •  One-on-one meeting with the manager to set short-term goals
  •  Review company policies (HR policies, expenses, etc.)
  •  Introduction to ongoing projects and tasks
  •  Set up performance check-ins (weekly/monthly)
  •  Assign initial tasks for hands-on experience
  •  Encourage feedback on onboarding experience
