Onboarding Checklist for New Hires
Ensuring a Smooth Transition & Successful Integration
Pre-Start Preparation (Before the first day)
- Offer letter sent and signed contract received
- New hire details collected (bank details, emergency contacts, etc.)
- IT setup completed (email, system logins, software access)
- Workstation prepared (desk, chair, equipment, stationery)
- Welcome email with first-day instructions sent
- Employee handbook, company policies, and any pre-reads shared
- Assign a buddy or mentor
First Day
- Warm welcome and office tour
- Meet key team members & introductions
- Overview of company culture, values, and mission
- Review job role, expectations, and key responsibilities
- IT login test (email, internal systems, shared drives)
- Provide access to necessary tools and software
- Discuss communication channels (Slack, Teams, internal portals)
- Health & safety briefing (fire exits, first aiders, etc.) Lunch with manager/team (if possible)
First Week
- Initial training on processes and systems
- One-on-one meeting with the manager to set short-term goals
- Review company policies (HR policies, expenses, etc.)
- Introduction to ongoing projects and tasks
- Set up performance check-ins (weekly/monthly)
- Assign initial tasks for hands-on experience
- Encourage feedback on onboarding experience
