What are Transferable Skills?
Transferable skills are a core set of skills and abilities, which can be applied to a wide range of different jobs and industries. They are usually picked up over time, and can be gained from previous positions, charity or volunteer work, taking a course, your hobbies or even just from being at home.
List all of your skills
You may have always been in the same type of role, but have you ever thought about all of the transferable skills you have?

What transferable skills should I include in my CV?
If you’re not sure which ones you should include for a particular role, check the job description. Employers will make it clear in job adverts the skills of which they require, this is often made up of soft and hard skills.
Simply pick out words that seem most relevant, and think of ways you may be able to display similar attributes, emphasising how they could benefit the employer.
If you can demonstrate these skills with real-life examples, even better.This will show that you can back up what you are saying you can do and also use these examples in interview.
Soft vs Hard Skills
Soft skills are traits that make you a good worker. They are things like work ethic, organisation, communication, collaboration, and leadership.
Hard skills are abilities you learn in school or on the job. They are things like C# programming, marketing, campaign management, financial forecasting etc.
What to include in your CV?
Employers want to see a mixture of soft and hard skills, it is best to bullet point your skills and pick out what the employer is looking for.
Don’t just have one cv, adjust it for the position you are applying for, ensuring that your transferrable skills stand out for that particular vacancy.
